Grandparents Backyard

The picture that I have chosen to do is a photograph of my Grandma and Nopa’s (Grandpa’s) backyard in Port Credit, Mississauga. As you can see by looking at the photograph, my grandparents live off of Lake Ontario - the photograph even shows my Nopa golfing by the boat house. I came up with the idea of choosing to create this photograph in this style in order to give it to them as a Christmas present because they are moving out of the house. The reason why the photograph is black and white is because it gives the feel of that this photograph was taken in the 1970. To get this effect, I decided to put this photograph on a piece of wood. In order to do this, I grabbed a piece of wood from the shop glass and put glue on the photograph and placed it on top of the block of wood. To make it look more aged, I then rinsed the photo with warm water and used my hands to scrub the paper off. I decided to place the photograph on the block of wood because I thought it would be result in an interesting textured effect. Although I am proud of the finished product, I feel that there are areas in which I could improve this photograph. For example, if the photograph were in colour instead of black and white it might have enhanced the view of the lake. Also, I could have tried hard a little more to get some of the left over paper off. Overall, I am really inspired by this project - how fun it was and it created cool effects with the photo and both my grandma and nopa loved this gift.
